A QUINTESSENTIAL TASTE OF THE NAHE
Our VDP member estate is predestined to make Rieslings. The variety beautifully reflects the soils and thrives in this climate. These Rieslings evince a character that is equal parts minerality, vitality and delicate fruitiness. We also cultivate fragrant and juicy Pinot Noirs and Blancs. The region is roughly 2/3 Riesling to 1/3 Pinot varieties.
We are particularly proud of our sekt, our Kabinett and Großes Gewächs wines.

There are many steps to ensuring the quality of our sparkling wine, and all start with a true passion for bubbles. Selective hand harvest, whole cluster, traditional bottle fermentation, extended lees contact and exclusive hand riddling ... the interplay between passion and precision forms the basis for our complex and finely moussed sparkling wines.

QUEEN OF THE VINES
Riesling has a long tradition here on the Nahe, and at our estate in particular. We know and love the diverse talents and needs of the “Queen of Grapes” and know that she never poses quite the same challenges twice. It requires time, patience and hard work to draw out her best — before and after harvest. Yet the rewards are many, and bestow our dry Rieslings with the finest balance, juicy structure, spicy floral aromas and concentrated minerality.

We are especially proud to cultivate exclusive sites such as the Schlossberg, Hölle and Krone, which boast red and gray slate, weathered sandstone and loessy clay. They are the cradle for thrilling wines of distinct personality. Power and finesse, body and balance, fruit and minerality... a journey of the senses through the Nahe!

The finest of dry wines from classified VDP.Grosse Lage sites are denoted as VDP.Großes Gewächs, with corresponding labeling on the bottles. Our GGs are shaped by their terroir and reflect our soils: the exposition, orientation, composition and microclimate. They demand a maximum of precision, concentration, humility and passion. In return, our VDP.Große Lage sites — Pittermännchen, Goldloch and Burgberg — grace us with the grandest of wine enjoyment. Treasures of fruit, minerality and spice.

Grapes from the Pinot family planted along the Nahe began gaining attention in the 1980s, and have only grown in popularity since then. Because they love warm weather and thrive in rugged, dry soils, the climate of the Nahe is a paradise for them. And you can taste that love. BURGUNDY MEETS CAROLINE
The Pinot Noir Réserve has been named for Caroline since its very first vintage, back in 2001. We view it as an honor and an obligation. Our estate’s prestige blend is sourced exclusively from the finest parcels of Pinot Noir grapes from our vineyards. It goes without saying that no effort is spared during vinification to create a bottle worthy of the name. From selective hand harvest of the perfectly ripe grapes to delicate destemming by hand, gentle foot crush and maturation in small oak barrels — nothing is left to chance!

Vitality, minerality and a finely integrated fruitiness. The classically fruity prädikat wines are bursting with the kind of energy that lends these wines a truly distinctive character. They are true rarities, and are considered the crowning achievement of German viniculture. Nobly sweet Rieslings require special climatic conditions, as well as tremendous patience in the harvest and selection of the grapes. In return, they offer unfathomable ageing potential. Beerenauslesen, Trockenbeerenauslesen and Eiswein are the classics of German wine culture, and are considered among the finest treasures our estate has to offer.

Each year we attend the classic VDP auctions in Bad Kreuznach with one special rarity in tow. This reflects our own consideration of which bottle from our catalog represents the most authentic and personal presentation of our estate. A bottle that truly enchants us! Sometimes this comes from the current vintage, sometimes from the library. We make it easy to see just how special this bottle is, through the traditional, historic Schlossgut label applied solely to auction wines. An event for all serious wine collectors.
